Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Below are answers to some of the most common questions students and parents ask about math tutoring services. This page is designed to give you clear expectations before booking a session.
Can I write out my math work during a session?
Yes. This is a fully collaborative tutoring experience. I use a digital tablet and stylus to demonstrate problems step by step. You are welcome to write out your own work using a mouse, trackpad, or touchscreen if you prefer not to type. Writing things out often helps with understanding and retention.
Do 15-minute time slots guarantee 15 minutes of tutoring?
No. The 15-minute time block reserves that window for us to work together. If you book a 6:15–6:30 PM session but arrive at 6:20 PM, the remaining time (10 minutes) is what we will use. Sessions are often scheduled back-to-back, so arriving on time is important.
Are you a certified tutor?
No, and proudly so. My focus is on results, repeat students, and referrals—not paid certifications. Many tutoring certifications require fees ranging from $100–$800, plus annual membership costs. I choose not to pass those expenses on to students. What matters most is effective teaching and student success.
I thought I booked a time slot, but now it shows as unavailable. What happened?
This usually occurs when two students are booking at the same time. The slot is secured by whoever completes the checkout process first. If the time is no longer available, please return to the scheduling page and choose another open slot. If you received a confirmation email and believe there is an error, contact me directly through the contact form.
What payment methods do you accept?
Currently, payments are accepted through PayPal. If you have suggestions for additional payment methods you would like to see offered, feel free to reach out using the contact form.
What hours are available for tutoring?
Available tutoring hours are shown directly on the scheduling page. You can book either 15-minute or 30-minute sessions, depending on availability. The calendar will always display the most up-to-date openings.
Can I cancel or reschedule my session? Do I get a refund?
- Cancellations made within 30 minutes of booking qualify for a full refund.
- Cancellations after that time are non-refundable, but the session will be credited for future use.
- Rescheduling is allowed up to 2 hours before the scheduled session at no additional cost.
To request a refund or credit, please contact me directly.
Will tutoring guarantee that I pass my math class?
No. A single session—especially a 15-minute session—cannot guarantee a passing grade. Success depends on continued practice and applying what you learn after tutoring. My goal is to help you understand the material so you can succeed independently.
How long is a typical tutoring session?
At this time, tutoring is offered in 15-minute or 30-minute blocks. You may book multiple consecutive sessions if they are available, but each block must be booked separately.
Where do you offer in-person math tutoring?
In-person tutoring is available in Baltimore, Maryland. Sessions can take place at my home or another mutually agreed-upon location. Availability may vary depending on public health considerations.
